Young Lion
Young lion watching Medium: oil on canvas Size: 560x440 R3200 sold (2007)
I have a feeling that sometimes young lions do not yet know what is food and what is play. They learn with experience. When you find a lion looking so unflinchingly at you I would for one roll up the windows and sit very still and hope that soon something else will pass by.
I think one of the greatest defining moments in my life was hearing a mail lion roar not very far off, while sleeping in a canvas tent. I experience a great urge to stand very still and not breath even though there was an electric fence separating us and at least a hundred meters.
